Going to Friedrichshafen. (Anyone want a postcard?)

by Dan on December 2, 2012

I will be heading to Friedrichshafen next week to visit with some zeppelin friends, do some research at the Zeppelin Archiv, and see new exhibits at the Zeppelin Museum.

And yes, I will pack warm clothes!  :-)

If anyone would like a postcard from the home of the zeppelin, send me an email with the subject “Postcard Request” and your name and address to dan@airships.net.

UPDATE, 8 December:  I am leaving tomorrow so I cannot accept any more requests, but I look forward to mailing a postcard to each of you who requested one.

Rats, I wish I had seen this sooner! I’m starting a collection of airship postcards. I hope you had a great time and please write about your adventure.

I’m curious what it’s like in the airship. Do you feel any movement? Or get vertigo?

The NT is in the hangar for winter maintenance so there was no flying this trip. One does feel movement in an airship, of course, but as to vertigo, I guess that depends on the individual. I never have a problem with height in an aircraft (airship, fixed wing, or helicopter). I guess I could not have gotten my pilot certificate and ratings if I did. But I hate climbing on the roof of my house!

Have a great trip! I’ll send you my address. I have a cousin who has lived in Germany for years that I turned on to this museum. He had never heard of it.
