Werner Doehner, last Hindenburg survivor, has died at age 90

Werner Doehner, the last living survivor of the Hindenburg disaster, died on November 8, 2019 in Laconia, New Hampshire.

Werner was 8 years old when he traveled on Hindenburg with his parents, Hermann and Matilde, his sister Irene (age 14), and his brother Walter (age 10).

Werner, Walter, and their mother survived the crash; Werner’s father and sister did not.

The Doehner family was returning to their home Mexico, where Hermann Doehner was general manager of a German wholesale drug company headquartered in Mexico City. Werner’s older brothers Kurt and Hermann Jr. were not aboard the airship.

Werner Doehner was born on March 14, 1929 in Darmstadt, Germany.
