Some nicely colorized film footage of Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg has just been uploaded to YouTube.
The video’s uploader calls it “Best Color Footage,” but of course this is black & white film that has been colorized.)
Here are some screen captures:

Question: Could you maybe make a page on the R100 airship and its descendants? I can’t find anything on them, even just R100.
That has LONG been on my “To Do List” but I just haven’t had time to do justice to the subject. But I will complete the project some day. 🙂
This footage is sourced from the two-part documentary called “Hitler’s Champions” (French: Les Champions d’Hitler, German: Hitlers Helden – Propaganda fuer das Dritte Reich, Czech: Hitlerovi šampioni), which mostly consists of colorized historical footage around the time of the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Max Schmeling and Ernst Udet are two of the featured figures.
Episode 1 contains footage of the christening of the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin (incidentally, the scene showing the name being unveiled is the LZ 130 not LZ 127), as well as the construction and trial flights of the Hindenburg. It also shows Max Schmeling’s return to Germany on the Hindenburg.
Episode 2 has some footage of Ernst Udet’s hook-on trapeze attempt on the Hindenburg, as well as the disaster (this particular section is somewhat sloppily edited with closeups of the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin before showing the fire).
Thus far the only colour Zeppelin footage I’ve seen is of the LZ 130 Graf Zeppelin (“II”) filmed by Harold G. Dick in 1938.
