Every year on May 6, at 7:25 PM Eastern time, I drink several toasts on the anniversary of the Hindenburg disaster. Here are some photos from last year.
Take a moment this evening to remember those who built this great ship, those who flew her, and those who lost their lives.
To the memory of the airship in better times…

To the memory of the man who made it all possible…
And in memory of those who lost their lives.

Hello Francisco Carvello,
I was surprised to see the e-mail about the HIndenburg and the disaster that happened so long ago. I happen to remember it very well. I was a child of about 9 years. ( now an adult of eighty-nine years…) and I was sitting on the front steps of our home in Pt. Pleasant, New Jersey… I saw the huge Hindenburg go overhead. My grandmother was excited about it. She went inside and a few minutes later I heard her scream. She had turned on the radio and heard the first news about the tragic disaster… It made an unforgettable impression on me and Nanna told me all about the amazing “blimp” and the sudden tragic disaster she had just heard about on the radio. I’m glad people are still remembering and keeping the dreadful time in memory. Thank you for the e-mail…. How it came to me I cannot see… But I’m glad, though still sad… about the story of the Hindenburg that happened so long ago. Dallas Cline

It is also the 80th anniversary of the Hindenburg’s maiden flight to America.
